Dale Wiebe
Dale Wiebe is in his fourth year as Director at Winkler Bible Camp. Previously the Wiebe family ran the first three years of summer camp up at Mission Point (Shoal Lake, Ontario). Dale & Candace have been married for 19 years and have three kids, Tanisha, Ally and Bowen who all enjoy being a part of the ministry. As a family they love to vacation especially when it includes beaches and rollercoasters.
Mark Sawatzky
Mark joined the ministry here at Winkler Bible Camp in the spring of 2005 as the Director of Programming, primarily in charge of summer camp. Previous to WBC Mark enjoyed being a youth/associate pastor in Niverville. He is married to Irma and they have three children Carly, Marissa, and Ryan. They are enjoying living in Winkler and being busy with work, sports, and school schedules.
Steven "Reece" Friesen
Reece currently serves as WBC Cross Current Director. He has been a pastor, missionary, and artist within the Church for the past 15 years and has led and mentored young people for most of that time. He desires to follow Christ as a man who submits his gifts and experiences to the Word of God. In addition to a long history in theatre and music, Reece is a published comic book writer and artist (the Pax Avalon series with Herald Press). He enjoys critiquing art, exploring other cultures, and spending time with his wife (Rachel) and their four daughters (Abigail, Laureli, Cariana, and Felicity).
Davis Wieler
What started out as a fun way of spending the summer eventually developed into a full-time position for Davis. Since 2000 he´s been working at maintaining the WBC main site . Camp has provided him with a plethora of opportunities and experience, from working with children to rebuilding diesel engines, and everything in between! In addition to his responsibilities, a new role for Davis this summer will be directing our Mission Point site where he hopes to master the art of windsurfing!
Bob Reimer
WBC has played a significant role in the lives of Bob and his wife, Rachelle, since the mid 90's. Since 2007, Bob has enjoyed a full time role as group host. Other activities that occupy his time are tickling his 3 children, Kayla, Darian, and Chelsea, camping, and enjoying movies and DQ blizzards with his wife.
Roma Wieler
Roma has been a dedicated staff member since 2001. During most of her time at camp she has lacked an official title, and has willingly done various necessary tasks. She is an expert in cleaning, painting, raking, digging trenches, and much more, including cooking both at main site and Mission Point. In addition to camp work she has been involved in short-term missions in Cambodia, Mexico, and Belize. At the end of a busy day, she enjoys relaxing with a good book.
Norm Dyck
Norm and his wife Nett have been married for 20 years and have 3 children, Leah(10), Skyler(6), and Jordan(2). He started here at WBC in 2006 and has been working in maintenance which means doing just about anything! Norm started his involvement at camp way back as a camper and in more recent history volunteering with many different projects. Norm and Nett have enjoyed numerous mission trips prior to working at camp which God has used to build a desire to serve Him full time here at camp. The Dyck family enjoys camping, flying kites, horseback riding and Veggie Tales to name a few.
James Shiels
James Shiels has been a part of summer camp ministry at WBC for seven years, but this is his first year being on staff full time as the Summer Camp Director. James has a huge passion for camp and everything that comes along with it. Planning summer camp gives him an opportunity to dream and be creative. However, there's nothing he loves more then seeing his summer staff grow in the Lord. "Camp is nothing without our incredible summer staff. Seeing them grow in their faith makes me so excited because I know how much more they can in turn impact not only their campers, but everyone around them every day...I have the best job in the world!"
John Klassen
John and Susan were both born in Mexico and moved with their families to Ontario in their childhood. They both received Christ in their early teens. They lived and raised their family of two boys and one girl in the St. Thomas, ON area. John is a retired Ford worker and Susan was self employed as a bookkeeper and a income tax preparer. The last two years they lived in Saskatoon, SK, they had never thought of leaving Saskatoon so early until they saw an ad that Winkler Bible Camp needed a maintenance person. They felt that God was calling them in that direction. Their dream, desire, and prayer after John retired was to work at a Christian camp, and God has answered their prayers by sending them to Winkler Bible Camp.
Robyn Bremner
Robyn has been a full time staff since May of 2007. She enjoyed a year of Cross Current from 2005-06 and decided that WBC is where she wanted to spend her time working. She then married her wonderful husband Michael in May 2008. Robyn primarily works in the kitchen, but also enjoys working at activities like the climbing wall.
Steve Klassen
Steve Klassen is in his second year as a year round staff, and has worked the 7 previous summers in various positions including counselor, climbing wall leader and programmer. During the year he directs Kids Zone, a new children's ministry that runs two semesters, one in the spring and one in the fall in Winkler. He also works with James on preparing the summer camp program. He is very excited about the many opportunities to learn and grow at the camp and thinks he has the best job in the world.
Bernie & Debbie Poliquin
New to WBC in 2009, Bernie and Debbie Poliquin spent the summer season as the Teepee Village directors, and are currently excited to serve as RA's to the Cross Current students. Debbie, WBC's resident Aussie, enjoys exlporing Canada and experiencing its various landscapes and cultures. Bernie hails from a little more close by -- the Saskatchewan "outback". They married in December 2008. Their door is always open for anyone who wants to drop by for a Vegimite sandwich, or another shrimp on the barby.
Chrissy Elias
This is Chrissy's first year at Winkler Bible Camp. She started in August, and is enjoying her role as camp receptionist. She spent her last year at Steinbach Bible College. Oustide of camp she stays busy as a youth sponsor and Sunday School helper. Chrissy enjoys singing and spending time with friends.
Elisabeth Kitzmann
Elli came from Germany to work at Winkler Bible Camp for one year through IVEP (International Volunteer Exchange Program through MCC). The work she does consists of maintenance duties, cleaning or assisting in the kitchen when there are rental groups, and working with groups by leading activities. In her free time Elli enjoys getting to know the Canadian culture, country, and people, as well as getting together with friends, playing sports, watching movies, and reading English books. Elli is really enjoying her time at WBC.
JessAlyn Heppner
JessAlyn has been working at camp since 2005. During that time she has been a counselor, activity leader, host, and a member of the spring staff. She is now working year round as the events coordinator, and she also helps out with various rental groups and the Outdoor Education program. In her spare time she enjoys sports, piano, and settling down to read a good book.
